Escutcheon 01 is a thin hammered steel plate in a circular shape, used to dress the keyhole. It was observed on the front door of an old village house in the Quercy region. Keyhole covers were richly decorated until the end of the 18th century, after which their designs gradually became simpler. Notably, a similar plate made of copper alloy was found at the Dunes necropolis, a Gallo-Roman archaeological site. This rosette comes in two sizes—small and medium—and is available either for thumb turns (used for handles or release rods) or for keys.
